I totally forgot to post pictures from D’s 27th bday! (Blame it on the “pregnesia.”) We celebrated a couple days later at home – since we had a fun-but-too-short birthday celebration in VA in between baseball games. Here’s the birthday boy gingerly blowing out his 27+ candles… I got these crazy sparkler things that spat and sprayed and ultimately melted all over the cream cheese frosting. But the cake was spared, the wax was easily plucked off. Phew.

Mmmm…yummy Chocolate Guinness Cake… I can’t take credit for the recipe – thanks,
Nigella!

Reflecting on the past year…

PRESENTS!!

He’s so fun.

And here are some MORE pictures I forgot to post from D’s bday weekend. We were in Lexington, VA playing against VMI, and since May 17 is Dad D’s bday – the fam came down to celebrate both days with some baseball. On Saturday, we got to take in charming downtown Lexington and celebrate Dad’s bday at an Italian ristorante. And on Sunday, we ate breakfast at Aunt Sarah’s Pancake House and exchanged gifts for D’s 27th. In between games, we even visited the
Natural Bridge - actually one of the 7 natural wonders of the world – who knew?

And here we are doing a little yard work, hanging out at a party, making a delicious dinner you know… just normal life stuff.

Look! D’s Christmas stocking! My very first knitting project finally finished after many delays… Now it’s on to mine!

And some of those baby booties I mentioned… They are sooo quick and easy! I think she’s going to end up with every color in the rainbow…

let’s just sit back and unwind… Yeah, I know, I just shamelessly quoted The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Whatever, yo.
But that’s what we have been up to the past 2 weeks – unwinding. Well, sort of. Here and there between baseball camps and house projects we’ve found time for a trip to Beaufort and Savannah,
Spoleto, and crafting.
We ended the season in Danville, VA and then had to say good-bye to our new friend, M. He headed back to LA after a summer at CSU. We miss you, Coach!
And I’ve found tons of time for knitting and sewing and getting the nursery together. Here is the fabric I’m making the crib bedding out of – underneath is the yarn I’m using to knit a car blanket Since she’s going to be so little in the winter, I thought I’d make something warm and heavy for those brisk outings. I don’t have any pictures yet, but I also started her “blankie” and have been pumping out these super-easy baby booties like a factory. And after Fathers’ Day I can post some more of my handiwork….
Until the next posting, we wish you all a little summer romance…. or maybe more than a little…
